Accelerate School of Motoring operates with a managed number of weekly lesson slots to ensure business sustainability, cover operational costs, and meet instructor earning requirements.

Non-attendance and frequent cancellations are detrimental to pupil progression and disrupt our structured learning programme. It is unreasonable to expect the driving school to sustain financial losses for missed appointments when a pupil has committed to a specific course of intensive or regular training.

By taking lessons with Accelerate, you are committing to a consistent weekly financial outlay and a bespoke lesson structure tailored specifically to your needs. Cancellations should only be made under exceptional circumstances.

Frequently Asked Questions & Policy Terms

What happens if I need to cancel a booked lesson?
Driving tuition with Accelerate is a structured, ongoing course rather than a casual, week-by-week arrangement. If you know you cannot attend a future booking, you must advise your instructor at the end of your current lesson.

We understand that pupils may occasionally need to cancel due to unexpected illness or urgent personal commitments. While we are empathetic to these situations, Accelerate is a commercial business that relies on projected revenue to sustain its long-term operations.

Business Cancellation Rules

  • Notice of 24 Hours or More: If you cancel a lesson at any point between your previous lesson and 24 hours before your next scheduled appointment, a 50% cancellation fee will apply.
  • Notice of Less Than 24 Hours: If a cancellation is made with less than 24 hours' notice, or if you fail to attend a scheduled lesson, a 100% fee will be charged.
  • Enforcement: The cancellation policy is strictly non-negotiable regardless of the reason for the cancellation.

All cancellation fees must be paid promptly via bank transfer to the following non-business account:

  • Account Name: Robert Leslie Fricker
  • Sort Code: 40-17-60
  • Account Number: 01645498

How to Avoid a Cancellation Charge

If you notify us that you need to cancel a booking, you should immediately provide your alternative availability so we can attempt to reschedule the session. While we will do our best to accommodate your request, rearranging the lesson cannot be guaranteed.

If you give sufficient notice, we may be able to offer the slot to another pupil. If the slot is successfully filled, the cancellation charge will be waived. However, you should not assume that a replacement pupil will always be found.

Attendance and Absenteeism

Cancelling lessons regularly or cancelling blocks of lessons will result in the loss of your permanent, reserved slot. Your regular time slot will be reallocated to new pupils enquiring about tuition during your period of absence.

Should you choose to take an extended break or cancel repeatedly, resuming lessons will be entirely subject to mutual availability upon your return—exactly as it was when you first approached us. Consequently, there is no guarantee that a slot will be available for you, and Accelerate accepts no responsibility for any practical driving tests you have already booked.

Final Agreement

Please refrain from starting or continuing lessons with Accelerate School of Motoring if your personal circumstances or finances do not allow for the consistent attendance required to successfully complete the learning programme.

Accelerate School of Motoring reserves the right to terminate all future tuition immediately if any cancellation fees remain unpaid.

Miss future lessons without fear of losing your reserved space

This information applies only to pupils who have completed their course, are driving to the required standard and are test-ready, but are waiting for a practical test date.

With driving test waiting times continuing since COVID-19, it is not unusual to feel ready to drive independently while still waiting for a practical test date. This can be especially frustrating if you already had driving experience or switched from manual to automatic lessons when you joined us.

If you are in this situation, we will do everything we can to help. Where possible, we may be able to exchange your booked test date for an earlier date with a pupil who does not yet feel ready to take their test, or contact alternative driving schools on your behalf.

Accelerate will never pressure you into paying for lessons you do not need. If we both agree that you are driving competently and are at, or very close to, test standard, we will discuss the best way forward together.

We will work with you to find an approach that suits your budget. This may include scheduling occasional lessons to help you maintain the skills you have developed, without unnecessary cost, until you are able to take your practical driving test.

Due to this mutual arrangement, there is no fear of losing your reserved lesson slot by missing lessons.
