Your journey, our agreement

To guarantee a seamless, transparent, and rewarding learning experience for all, we’ll send you an email confirmation upon booking.

We encourage you to take a moment to review our student agreement and terms and conditions.

These guidelines are crafted to establish clear expectations and support you in achieving your driving goals effectively.

Understanding your pupil agreement

At Accelerate School of Motoring Automatic, we prioritise clear communication.

Our pupil agreement clearly defines the responsibilities shared between the school and our students.

Students aged 18 and older enter into this contract independently. For those under 18, a parent or guardian will serve as a 'guarantor,' assuming legal responsibility for the agreement, particularly concerning payments.

Our mission is to equip you with the skills to drive safely and competently in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

Legal Requirements for Driving Lessons

In the United Kingdom, you must be at least 17 years old and possess a valid full or provisional driving licence with accurate details to legally take driving lessons on public roads.

Rest assured, you are fully covered by our comprehensive insurance during your lessons.

It’s essential to inform us immediately if you lose your licence, face disqualification, or experience any health changes that could impact your ability to drive.

You are also required to meet the minimum eyesight standards for driving; we recommend an eyesight test before you begin your lessons.

Driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or certain medications is illegal and will void your insurance coverage.

Finances and lesson structure

We view our lessons as a comprehensive 'course' culminating in an exam, rather than isolated sessions.

Payments are ideally made in cash at each lesson, but bank transfers can be arranged in exceptional circumstances with the instructor's approval.

Our standard lesson length is 105 minutes

and is priced at £80.

A practical test day, which lasts approximately 150 minutes, is available for £100.

Please note that these prices are effective from 1st January 2026 and may be reduced if you provide your own tuition vehicle.

We offer personalised, one-on-one structured tuition in a fully dual-controlled automatic vehicle, with flexible pick-up and drop-off options within a reasonable travel distance.

Lesson planning and flexibility

To foster steady and uninterrupted progress, we aim to schedule weekly lessons at the same time and day whenever possible.

We kindly ask you to consider your social calendar before making a booking.

Please note that lesson timings may occasionally need to be adjusted due to changes in instructor availability or other students' practical test bookings. We will provide sufficient notice in these cases.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation if we need to reschedule a lesson to accommodate another student.

In the event of adverse weather conditions that make driving unsafe, lessons will be canceled and promptly rescheduled for a later date.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to discuss their child's progress or sit in on a lesson by prior arrangement. Please be aware that extra passengers are not covered by the instructor's insurance.

Your theory and practical tests

You must pass your Theory and Hazard Awareness Test before you can book a practical driving test.

We highly recommend taking the theory test as early as possible.

While the Highway Code book is a great study resource, many students find the D.V.S.A. 4-in-1 app particularly helpful.

Due to COVID-19 backlogs, waiting lists for practical tests are quite long. Therefore, passing your theory test early enables you to book ahead and helps avoid expensive delays later on.

Once you demonstrate independent driving skills at the required level, we may recommend pausing your lessons temporarily.

Consider purchasing a car for practice with a family member; this can be a budget-friendly option during these waiting periods.

We will do our best to find last-minute cancellations for you once you are ready for the test.

Practical test day & cancellations

The practical test day is an approximate 150-minute slot, including a 60-minute pre-test lesson and the 57-minute test.

If a test is terminated early due to a dangerous fault, the full payment for the day will still apply.

You must bring your photo card driving licence and theory pass certificate as advised by the D.V.S.A. Practical tests are booked by you, guided by us after a mock test.

The instructor can sit in on your test if requested. We reserve the right to refuse our tuition vehicle for a test if you haven't maintained regular lessons, ensuring our duty of care to examiners.

We are not responsible for D.V.S.A. test cancellations; if this happens, your planned slot will be used as a regular lesson.

Continued training and development

After passing your practical test, we highly recommend a motorway lesson to enhance your skills and confidence. We also offer Pass Plus extra, which includes advanced sessions on top of motorway training. Completing this short course can significantly reduce car insurance costs, looks great on your CV, and can be beneficial in accident fault claims. Ask your instructor for more details on these valuable post-test options.

Lesson cancellations and policy

When you mutually agree on the next lesson slot before leaving the car, a 'verbal contract' is made.

Your instructor's livelihood relies on scheduled lessons. Cancellations are discouraged and should only occur if unavoidable.

Please provide as much notice as possible to allow the instructor a chance to cover the space with an alternative student to avoid charging you.

If you cancel longer than 24 hours before the booked lesson, a 50% cancellation fee of the lesson value will be charged.

If cancellation is made with less than 24 hours' notice, 100% will be charged.

We will make every effort to cover the slot with another student to avoid charging you, but a cancellation made within a 24-hour notice period rarely stops the full 100% charge.

Please ensure you can commit to the lesson offered before booking.

Discussions about a repayment plan are an option, but refusal to pay a cancellation fee will result in no future lessons being provided.

We will refrain from teaching pupils who are not showing serious commitment to learning.

COVID-19 disclaimer

Based on our risk assessment, this COVID-19 disclaimer protects both parties. While it may be difficult to maintain strict social distancing in a car, every effort will be made to prevent transmission. Neither Accelerate School of Motoring Automatic nor the pupil holds responsibility for contracting COVID-19 or associated minor issues like skin complaints from antiseptic use. Our agreement means we both commit to making every effort to prevent this.

Ready to accelerate your learning?

We look forward to guiding you on your automatic driving journey and helping you achieve a first-time test pass! If you have any questions about these terms, please don't hesitate to ask.
